Having survived a global disaster of epic proportions in The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Jake Gyllenhaal is back in dangerous territory as he and several high-profile names fight to stay alive in the upcoming survival drama Everest.
The film’s official trailer premiered online earlier today with plenty of suspense and thrills thrown in for good measure!
Directed by Baltasar Kormakur (Contraband, 2 Guns), the film focuses on the true story of a group of expedition climbers who make a doomed mission up Mount Everest only to be confronted by a vicious blizzard.
Gyllenhaal (Prisoners, Nightcrawler) plays one of the several climbers who also include Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Guardians of the Galaxy), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) and John Hawkes (Deadwood, The Sessions).
British actress Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, The Imitation Game) also features as Clarke’s wife with other female support coming from Robin Wright (Forrest Gump, House of Cards) and Emily Watson (War Horse, The Book Thief).
The film is based on a first-hand account of the 1996 tragedy in the best-selling novel ‘Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster‘.
