Almost a century ago, author A.A Milne wrote a group of stories related to a cuddly bear named Pooh and his friends as they got up to various adventures.
As one of the most popular children’s characters of all-time, Winne the Pooh has become loved by generations of fans who have read the books and seen the films made by Disney since 1977.
The studio have now made their first live-action outing of the franchise albeit one that focuses more on the human they bonded with years ago. Following the release of a teaser a couple of months ago, a new trailer for Christopher Robin has premiered online.
Directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, World War Z), the family adventure stars Ewan McGregor (Star Wars series, Beauty and the Beast) as an adult Christopher who is struggling to juggle his working life with his devoted family. However, he then encounters his childhood friend Pooh who tries to help him rediscover the joys of life.
Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter) plays Christopher’s wife Evelyn with further live-action support coming from Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Game of Thrones), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Game of Thrones, Breathe) and newcomer Bronte Carmichael (Darkest Hour, On Chesil Beach).
Veteran voice artist Jim Cummings (The Lion King, A Goofy Movie) reprises his vocal roles as Pooh and Trigger which he has provided since The New Adventures of Winne the Pooh (1988-91). Additionally, the rest of the voice cast includes Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, Paddington 2) as Rabbit, Toby Jones (Dad’s Army, Detectorists) as Owl, Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, The Hollow Crown) as Kanga and Brad Garrett (Finding Nemo, Everybody Loves Raymond) as Eeyore.
This is the second Pooh-based film to be released in the last year following the 2017 biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin which centred on the life of Pooh author A.A Milne.
Christopher Robin will be released in the UK on August 17th.
