With the 2025 Oscars still three-and-a-half months away, the Academy has made the welcoming decision to unveil Conan O’Brien as their latest host.
In a welcoming decision, the Emmy-winning comedian, writer and former late-night host will finally take on the lucrative job for the first time in his career.

In typical Conan fashion, the five-time Emmy winner made a humorous response to the announcement.
“America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.”
O’Brien built his career as a writer for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons before spending two decades as a late-night host, which included shows like Late Night With Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien and Conan.
As of now, he currently hosts the popular podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and recently starred in the travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go.
His newest gig will see him follow in the footsteps of other late-night hosts that have overseen the Academy Awards ceremony, including Johnny Carson, Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel.
In the meantime, the 97th Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 2 March 2025.
