When the first Scary Movie was released back in 2000, it revived the film-spoof concept that had worked successfully for Airplane! and the Naked Gun series. But over six years after the previous instalment Scary Movie 4, the comical horror franchise is back following the release of the first trailer for Scary Movie 5.
The new film ridicules recent horror classics like Paranormal Activity and Black Swan as well as poking fun at the Christopher Nolan blockbuster Inception.
With original Scary Movie star Anna Faris backing out of this latest (pathetic) effort, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) is the new lead as she and her on-screen husband find themselves confronted by hidden demons in their new home.
Notorious Hollywood duo Charlie Sheen (Platoon, Scary Movie 3) and Lindsay Lohan (The Parent Trap, Machete) cameo in the film as the previous occupants of the house who have also faced the wrath of these demons.
The horrendous looking sequel is due out in cinemas in April 2013. Despite my love for Scary Movie 3, I will definitely be taking a back-seat from this so-called ‘comedy’.
