The past decade or so has seen the comic-book genre dominate cinema particularly with Marvel Studio’s colossal series of films and Christopher Nolan’s moody Dark Knight trilogy.
DC Comics are preparing to challenge Marvel again by uniting two of its greatest superheroes on the big-screen for the first time as Batman and Superman lock horns in the upcoming blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Man of Steel) has posted a clear version of the film’s first trailer which shows Oscar-winner Ben Affleck (Daredevil, Argo) making his bow as the Caped Crusader.
The plot sees Affleck’s Bruce Wayne / Batman confronting Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent / Superman as the world tries to recover from the aftermath of the Kryptonian’s clash with General Zod in the previous outing Man of Steel. However a new enemy threatens to strike fear into the people of Earth as the two heroes find themselves having to join forces.
The two minute teaser captures the dark atmosphere of both characters but their partnership clearly isn’t going to be easy when Batman utters a stern threat: “Tell me – do you bleed? You will!”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released in cinemas worldwide on March 25th 2016.
