Having tackled Nazis, baseball and zombies in recent years, Brad Pitt is now heading into space for his next big-screen outing.
The Oscar-nominated star of Inglorious Basterds (2009), Moneyball (2011) and World War Z (2013) takes centre stage in the upcoming sci-fi drama Ad Astra which was originally set for release earlier this year.
The film’s official trailer landed earlier today and shows plenty of intrigue with the plot as well as some marvellous special effects.
Directed by James Gray (The Immigrant, The Lost City of Z), the plot sees Pitt play Roy McBride, an astronaut who travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet.
Pitt is joined in the film by Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, Men in Black trilogy) as Roy’s father Clifford plus Ruth Negga (Loving, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Liv Tyler (Armageddon, Lord of the Rings trilogy), John Ortiz (Kong: Skull Island, Bumblebee) and Donald Sutherland (Space Cowboys, The Hunger Games series).
Cited as a potential technical awards contender, Ad Astra will be released in the UK on 18 September.
