A rivetting new trailer has arrived for Tron: Ares.

The upcoming sci-fi action film is the third instalment in the Tron series, which first caught the public’s attention way back in 1982 with the release of Tron.

Helmed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Young Woman and the Sea), the plot follows a highly-sophisticated AI soldier named Ares who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission that brings chaotic results.

Oscar winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Morbius) leads the film’s cast which also includes Greta Lee (The Morning Show, Past Lives), Evan Peters (X-Men series, Mare of Easttown), Hasan Minhaj (The Spy Who Dumped Me, No Hard Feelings), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Bad Monkey), Arturo Castro (Broad City, Narcos), Cameron Monaghan (Shameless, Gotham), and Emmy winner Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Crown).

Additionally, fans of the franchise can also look forward to the return of Jeff Bridges, who reprises his role as Kevin Flynn after his previous appearances in Tron and Tron: Legacy (2010).

Tron: Ares will race its way into UK cinemas on 10 October.
