Back in 2015, the Rocky franchise was reinvigorated on the big-screen via the hit reboot Creed. Directed by Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler, the boxing drama saw Michael B. Jordan play Adonis Creed, the son of former fighter Apollo who was taken under the wing of his father’s friend Rocky Balboa, the former Heavyweight Champion of the World.
A lot of Rocky fans know that Sylvester Stallone’s Italian Stallion helped avenge Apollo’s death back in Rocky IV (1985) when he defeated brutal fighter Ivan Drago in his native Russia.
Now over thirty years later, Balboa and Drago are finally set for Round 2 in the upcoming sequel Creed 2 which has premiered its official trailer online.
Helmed by rookie director Steven Caple Jr. (The Land), the follow-up sees Rocky training Adonis for an upcoming fight against Viktor Drago, whose father and mentor Ivan was responsible for killing Apollo Creed in the ring years ago.
Dolph Lundgren finally reprises his iconic role as the intimdating Drago with Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu portraying Viktor.
There are also familiar faces back from the first Creed film including Tessa Thompson as Adonis’s girlfriend Bianca, Wood Harris as his half brother Tony “Little Duke” Burton and Phylicia Rashad as his adopted mother Mary Anne Creed.
Creed 2 will be released in the UK on November 30th.
