Ralph Fiennes and his choral group recruit a crop of young singers to perform in The Choral trailer

A stirring trailer has arrived for The Choral.

The upcoming war drama is the latest big-screen offering from BAFTA-winning filmmaker Nicholas Hytner and beloved playwright Alan Bennett after their previous collaboration on the likes of The Madness of King George (1994), The History Boys (2005) and The Lady in the Van (2015).

The plot centres on a Yorkshire-based choral society who start losing male members after they enlist to fight in the First World War. As a result, the choral is forced to recruit a crop of teenage boys and girls to sing ahead of a performance of Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.

The prolific Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, Conclave) leads the film’s cast alongside Roger Allam (The Thick of It, Endeavour), Mark Addy (The Full Monty, Game of Thrones), Alun Armstrong (New Tricks, Breeders), Robert Emms (Chernobyl, Andor), Emily Fairn (The Responder, Saturday Night), and BAFTA-winner Simon Russell Beale (A Dance to the Music of Time, The Death of Stalin).

The Choral will be released in UK cinemas on 7 November.
