The official trailer for Green Book has been released.
The fact-based comedy-drama is already generating early buzz ahead of its cinematic release and could be an early contender for next season’s Oscars.
Directed by comedic filmmaker Peter Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary), the film focuses on the unlikely friendship that developed between Italian American bouncer and driver Frank “Tony Lip” Vallelonga, and African American pianist Don Shirley during a fateful tour of the Deep South in 1962.
Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Captain Fantastic) and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (House of Cards, Moonlight) star as Vallelonga and Shirley respectively alongside Linda Cardellini (Brokeback Mountain, The Founder) as Tony’s wife Dolores.
Farrelly has also co-written the film alongside Vallelonga’s son, Nick, and Brian Hayes Currie.
Ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Green Book will arrive in UK cinemas on 19 January 2019.
