Avengers: Doomsday cast confirms Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and X-Men originals

The official cast for Avengers: Doomsday has been unveiled!

After a long and impatient wait, Marvel have put their loyal fans out of their misery ahead of production of the upcoming comic-book epic by releasing the multiple names via a lengthy video on social media.

In an unexpected turn of events, several members of the original X-Men cast are FINALLY set to make their bow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with veteran stars Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen both onboard as Charles Xavier / Professor X and Magneto respectively.

Additionally, fellow X-Men co-stars Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) are also set to feature alongside Channing Tatum, who recently made his long-awaited Marvel debut as Gambit in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

This particular news comes 25 years after the original X-Men outing kicked off the modern era of comic-book films.

Elsewhere, the cast members of the upcoming Marvel outings Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have also been confirmed to appear in Doomsday.

In the case of Thunderbolts, Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) is involved alongside co-stars David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Lewis Pullman (Sentry), and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) while Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm / Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm / Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm / The Thing) lead the new-look Fantastic Four team.

As to be expected, a number of Marvel ‘veterans’ are returning for the new Avengers epic including Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri / Black Panther, and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi.

Newer Marvel favourites are also onboard for the film including Winston Duke (M’Baku), Danny Ramirez (Joaquín Torres / Falcon) and Tenoch Huerta (Namor) while an added bonus is the welcoming return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

As previously announced, former Tony Stark / Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. is making a shock comeback to the MCU by playing the notorious Victor Von Doom / Doctor Doom.

However, there are a number of notable Marvel originals that are not involved in this particular outing with Tom Holland (Peter Parker / Spider-Man), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / Hulk), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), and Brie Larson (Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel) among the notable absentees.

With production finally set to get underway, Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release in UK cinemas on 1 May 2026, with director siblings Anthony and Joe Russo both back behind the camera.
