The nominations for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards have been unveiled across film and television as the winter awards season finally starts to unravel.
In the case of the small-screen contenders, the third series of HBO’s The White Lotus and Netflix’s audacious single-shot drama Adolescence have dominated proceedings with a combined thirteen nominations.
The White Lotus is up for Best Television Series (Drama) where it competes against the likes of fellow HBO series The Pitt, and Apple TV trio Pluribus, Severance and Slow Horses.
Additionally, the black comedy earns multiple acting noms for its ensemble with stars Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey and Aimee Lou Wood all shortlisted in the supporting categories.
After cleaning up at the Emmys earlier this year, Adolescence dominated the limited fields, with Emmy-winning stars Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty and teenage newcomer Owen Cooper all acknowledged for their performances.
The other major programmes looking to upset Adolescence in the Best Television Series (Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television) category include Peacock’s All Her Fault, and Netflix duo The Beast in Me and Black Mirror.
On the funny side of things, HBO Max’s Hacks and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building are among the standout contenders for the Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy) gong, with Apple TV’s The Studio looking to prevail after its recent Emmy dominance in September.
The lead acting categories are contested by a versatile group of stars that consist of Kathy Bates (Matlock), Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Claire Danes (The Beast in Me), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Jacob Elordi (The Narrow Road to the Deep North), Paul Giamatti (Black Mirror), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story), Rashida Jones (Black Mirror), Jude Law (Black Rabbit), Britt Lower (Severance), Diego Luna (Andor), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Helen Mirren (MobLand), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Glen Powell (Chad Powers), Bella Ramsay (The Last of Us), Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me), Seth Rogen (The Studio), Mark Ruffalo (Task), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), Adam Scott (Severance), Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building), Jean Smart (Hacks), Sarah Snook (All Her Fault), Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Michelle Williams (Dying for Sex), Robin Wright (The Girlfriend) and Noah Wyle (The Pitt).
Meanwhile, the newly-formed Best Podcast category features the likes of Good Hang with Amy Poehler and Smartless, while British comedy stars Ricky Gervais and Brett Goldstein are both up for Best Performance in Stand-Up for their respective stand-up specials Mortality and The Second Best Night of Your Life.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on 11 January 2026, with comedian Nikki Glaser returning to host the ceremony for the second year in a row.
