The nominations for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards have been unveiled across film and television as the winter awards season finally starts to unravel.
On the cinematic front, the political thriller One Battle After Another reigns supreme with a mighty nine nods, which includes a place on the coveted Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) shortlist.
Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, the countercultural epic centres on a washed-up revolutionary who scrambles to find his missing daughter when an old enemy resurfaces.
As expected, Anderson receives double nods for his writing and directing, while five of the film’s ensemble cast are in the hunt for acting honours.
Hollywood heavyweight Leonardo DiCaprio and newcomer Chase Infiniti both contest the lead acting (Musical/Comedy) fields, with co-stars Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor all acknowledged in the supporting categories.
The other films looking to challenge for the Motion Picture (Musical/Comedy) prize include the likes of the sci-fi comedy Bugonia, and the sports-based dramedy Marty Supreme.
On the dramatic side of things, the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value, the supernatural thriller Sinners and the historical tearjerker Hamnet all performed well with a healthy, combined total of 21 nominations, with all three features shortlisted for Best Motion Picture (Drama).
Among the major stars competing for the lead and supporting actor and actress accolades include Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine), Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You), Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), George Clooney (Jay Kelly), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Oscar Isaac (Frankenstein), Dwayne Johnson (The Smashing Machine), Jennifer Lawrence (Die, My Love), Amy Madigan (Weapons), Paul Mescal (Hamnet), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Adam Sandler (Jay Kelly), Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee), Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value), Emma Stone (Bugonia), Tessa Thompson (Hedda) and Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere).

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on 11 January 2026, with comedian Nikki Glaser returning to host the ceremony for the second year in a row.
