Stephen Graham learns a shocking revelation about his teenage son in Adolescence trailer

A powerful trailer for Adolescence has aired online.

The upcoming four-part crime drama tackles a difficult subject about the dangers of youth culture and toxic masculinity, with three of Britain’s biggest creative minds playing a significant role in its conception.

Co-created by BAFTA-winning writer Jack Thorne (Help, Toxic Town) and versatile actor Stephen Graham (This is England series, The Virtues) and directed by Philip Barantini (Boiling Point, Malpractice), the plot centres on a thirteen-year-old boy who is arrested for the murder of his female classmate and the impact it has on those around him including his family.

Just weeks after appearing in the Disney+ drama series A Thousand Blows, Graham spearheads a versatile core cast that includes Ashley Walters (Small Island, Top Boy), Erin Doherty (The Crown, A Thousand Blows), Faye Marsay (Pride, Ten Pound Poms), Christine Tremarco (Waterloo Road, The Responder) and newcomers Owen Cooper and Amélie Pease.

Additionally, the drama also features small, yet significant roles for consistent British character actors Mark Stanley (Game of Thrones, Happy Valley), Jo Hartley (This is England series, In My Skin), Faye McKeever (Little Boy Blue, The Responder) and Hannah Walters (Boiling Point, A Thousand Blows).

Touted as one of the most ambitious programmes of this year, all four episodes of Adolescence will be available to watch on Netflix from 13 March.
