Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce join cast of Beatles biopics

The upcoming Beatles biopics are beginning to take shape following a further four casting announcements.

With the Fab Four actors already confirmed six months ago, attention has now switched towards the line-up of talented actresses that will be portraying their respective spouses in the upcoming four-part cinematic event.

Firstly, Irish star Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn, Lady Bird) will take on the important role of photographer and musician Linda Eastham, the wife of lead vocalist and bassist Sir Paul McCartney.

Multi-award-winner Ronan has a fine resume of acting roles and has already earned four Oscar nominations in her prolific career for her performances in Atonement (2007), Brooklyn (2015), Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019).

Next up, Anna Sawai has landed the baity role of Yoko Ono, the divisive second wife of principal songwriter and rhythm guitarist John Lennon.

After appearing in the likes of Pachinko (2022-) and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023-), Sawai achieved worldwide recognition with her Emmy Award-winning role as Lady Mariko in the historical epic Shōgun (2024).

Meanwhile, Stockport-born star Aimee Lou Wood has been cast as Pattie Boyd, the wife of guitarist George Harrison.

Wood clinched a BAFTA for Best Female Comedy Performance for her delightful turn as Aimee Gibbs in the Netflix comedy Sex Education (2019-23) and has enjoyed a busy 2025 with her roles in Toxic Town, The White Lotus and Film Club.

Finally, London-born starlet Mia McKenna-Bruce has been cast as Maureen Starkey, the first wife of the band’s drummer Ringo Starr.

Hailing from Bexley, McKenna-Bruce came into prominence when she won the EE Rising Star Award BAFTA for her breakthrough performance in How to Have Sex (2023).

On the castings, director Sam Mendes said:

“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right — and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.”

The films, which each tell the story of a different member of the Liverpudlian band, are set to be led by Paul Mescal (Normal People, Aftersun) as Paul, Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Babygirl) as John, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, The Fantastic Four: First Steps) as George and Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inishern, Saltburn) as Ringo.

As it stands, the quartet of feature films are all due to be released together in April 2028.
