Oscar Isaac’s Dr. Victor Frankenstein brings a monster to life with terrifying results in Frankenstein trailer

An intimidating new trailer has landed for Frankenstein.

Based on Mary Shelley’s landmark 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, the upcoming gothic drama is the latest cinematic effort to explore the story of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his infamous monster.

Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water), the plot centres on a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator, and his tragic creation.

Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davies, Show Me a Hero) and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, Saltburn) tackle the iconic roles of Frankenstein and the monster respectively, with the rest of the cast consisting of Mia Goth (X, Infinity Pool), Felix Kammerer (All Quiet on the Western Front, Pagan Peak), Lars Mikkelsen (The Killing, Ahsoka), Ralph Ineson (The Office, The Witch), David Bradley (Harry Potter series, Broadchurch), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, The Imitation Game) and two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained).

Frankenstein will have a limited release in UK cinemas on 17 October before streaming on Netflix from 7 November.
