Official logo and plot synopsis revealed for The Lego Movie

Fans of the much-loved toy series ‘Lego’ will be pleased to know that a computer-animated film is set to be made.

It was announced a few months ago that the franchise, which consists of toys and computer games based on Batman, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, is set for a big-screen outing with the film’s official title being The Lego Movie.

Just now, Screen Rant has revealed that both an official logo AND plot details have been unveiled for the upcoming 3D animated feature which is being worked on by 21 Jump Street filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

And then below that is the official plot synopsis:

“The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.”

A stellar vocal cast has been secured for the film with the hero Emmet being voiced by Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Zero Dark Thirty) who will then be playing the lead role of Star-Lord in Marvel’s upcoming comic-book flick Guardians of the Galaxy.

Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Blades of Glory), Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, Dark Knight trilogy), Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Taken), Alison Brie (Mad Men, Community) and Elizabeth Banks (Seabiscuit, The Hunger Games) round off the rest of the talented actors involved.

The film is due for release on February 7th 2014.
