Martial artist Simu Liu confronts his past in new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

A thrilling new trailer has been unveiled for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The 25th offering of the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces audiences to the first new superhero of the Phase 4 era and is the first MCU film with an Asian director and a predominantly Asian cast.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12, Just Mercy), the plot focuses on martial artist Shang-Chi who is forced to confront his past when his father Wenwu, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist organisation, draws Shang-Chi and his sister Xialing into a search for a mythical village.

Chinese-born Canadian actor Simu Liu (Blood and Water, Kim’s Convenience) steps into the shoes of Shang-Chi and is joined by a stellar ensemble that includes Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, The Farewell), newcomer Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen (The Undoing), Florian Munteanu (Creed II), Yuen Wah (Kung Fu Hustle), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha), and Tony Leung (In the Mood for Love, Infernal Affairs) as the antagonistic Wenwu.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will arrive in UK cinemas on 3 September.
