Following the recent casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the much-anticipated Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, film-makers Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have now announced that Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Milk) has joined the upcoming comic-book prequel.
In what sounds like an unusual move, Brolin will be playing the younger version of the character Dwight, previously played in the original 2005 film by British actor Clive Owen (King Arthur, Children of Men).
But as revealed in the previous instalment, Dwight explained that he had recently undergone facial reconstruction surgery.
The two film-makers issued a brief statement about the casting:
“Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and A Dame to Kill For is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight.”
As already revealed the other day, Gordon-Levitt has also been cast in the prequel with original stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson amongst those returning.
The film is supposedly scheduled for release in the US later this year. In the meantime, Brolin can be seen starring in the crime-thriller Gangster Squad.
