Iman Vallani becomes aspiring superhero Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel trailer

The official trailer for Ms. Marvel is here.

In a significant step for the MCU, the latest television spinoff of the franchise introduces audiences to its first major Muslim protagonist.

Created by British writer Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Loki), the story follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old fangirl of the Avengers who struggles to fit in until she gains her own powers.

Pakistani-born Canadian newcomer Iman Vellani steps into the shoes of Kamala and her alter-ego Ms. Marvel and is joined in the cast by Matt Lintz (The Alienist, The Walking Dead), Yasmeen Fletcher Upside-Down Magic, Let Us In), Zenobia Shroff (The Big Sick, The Affair), Mohan Kapur (Hostages, Sadak 2), Rish Shah (Emmerdale), and Nimra Bucha (Mera Yaqeen, Manto).

Ms. Marvel will premiere the first of its six episodes on Disney+ from 8 June.
