An official trailer has premiered for the much buzzed Nomadland.
The indie drama is already making strong inroads in this season’s awards race after winning both the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
Directed by rising filmmaker Chloé Zhao (Songs My Brothers Taught Me, The Rider), the film follows Fern, an ageing woman who embarks on a journey through the American West after losing everything in the Great Recession. Over time, she lives the life of a van-dwelling and modern-day nomad.
Two-time Oscar winner Frances McDormand (Fargo, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) takes centre stage as Fern alongside David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck., Temple Grandin) and real-life nomads Linda May, Charlene Swankie and Bob Wells.
Amid the ongoing COVID-19, Nomadland is looking set for a UK release between April and May 2021.
