A moving new trailer has landed for Hamnet.
Directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals), the historical drama delves into a powerful love story that inspired the creation of William Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece Hamlet.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Maggie O’Farrell, the story focuses on how Agnes Shakespeare struggled with the loss of her only son Hamnet after his tragic death at the age of eleven.
Renowned Irish stars Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose, The Lost Daughter) and Paul Mescal (Normal People, Aftersun) portray the Shakespeares and are joined in the film by Joe Alwyn (The Favourite, The Brutalist), Jacobi Jupe (Britannia, Peter Pan & Wendy) and Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves, Appropriate Adult).
Touted as a major player in the upcoming awards season, Hamnet will arrive in UK cinemas on 9 January 2026.
