As the 2026 winter awards season begins to unravel, the nominations for the newly-named Actor Awards have been unveiled, with the best of film and television recognised.
Formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild, the major acting body have made a notable contribution to the upcoming Oscar race on what turned out to be a fantastic day for One Battle After Another.
The political thriller from Paul Thomas Anderson made history with the organisation by landing a record-breaking seven nods, which include a place on the Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture shortlist.
As with last month’s Golden Globe nominations, central star Leonardo DiCaprio and newcomer Chase Infiniti both contest the lead categories, while co-stars Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor are all in contention for the supporting accolades.
The period horror Sinners also performed well with a healthy five mentions, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast and a hat-trick of nods for its ensemble.
For his dual roles as twin criminals, Michael B. Jordan competes in the Leading Male Actor field, while British star Wunmi Mosaku and newcomer Miles Caton are recognised for their supporting turns.
One Battle After Another and Sinners are joined in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast line-up by the gothic drama Frankenstein, the historical tearjerker Hamnet, and the sports-based dramedy Marty Supreme.
Elsewhere, recent Critic Choice Award winners Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) and Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) will be looking to bolster their joint bid for Oscar recognition after landing key noms in the lead acting categories.
The other major actors competing for accolades include Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Amy Madigan (Weapons), Paul Mescal (Hamnet), Jesse Plemons (Bugonia) and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
Despite an impressive nominations haul at the Globes, the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value failed to pick up a single nod while Joel Edgerton (Train Dreams), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) and Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee) were among the notable acting omissions.
The 2026 Actor Awards will take place at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall on 1 March and will be streamed live on Netflix.

Leading man Seth Rogen is looking to follow up his recent successes at the Emmys and Critic Choice Awards after earning a Male Actor (Comedy) nod with co-star Ike Barninholtz standing in his way, while actresses Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O’Hara lock horns in the Female Actor (Comedy) line-up.
