Will Smith and Kevin Hart to star in remake of Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse for filmgoers, this unexpected bombshell happens….

Last night saw Paramount confirm that a remake of the beloved John Hughes comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles is in the works.

Additionally, Hollywood superstars Will Smith (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Aladdin) and Kevin Hart (The Upside, Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle) have been cast in the film which centres on an uptight advertising executive who embarks on a series of misadventures with a bumbling salesman while travelling from New York to Chicago for Thanksgiving.

Smith will presumably be playing the long-suffering Neal Page with Hart tackling the memorable part of Del Griffith. Both roles were superbly portrayed in the original 1987 film by Steve Martin and the late John Candy.

No director is attached to the project though the screenplay will be penned by Aeysha Carr (Everybody Hates Chris, Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

All I can say about this news is….WHY?!
