A joyous trailer has landed for Disney’s live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch.
Based on the beloved 2002 film, the upcoming sci-fi comedy joins a long list of other Disney animations to be given the photographic remake treatment including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan and more recently, The Little Mermaid.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), the story centres on a bond that is formed between lonely human girl Lilo, and dog-like alien Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction.
Newcomer Maia Kealoha makes her acting debut as Lilo and is joined in the film by Sydney Agudong (On My Block, At Her Feet) as Nani, Kaipo Dudoit (My Partner) as David, and Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance (Terminator Genisys, The People v O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story) as Cobra Bubbles.
Additionally, the remake also includes the voices of Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods, Aladdin) as Agent Pleakley, Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, The Fall Guy) as the Grand Councilwoman, and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover trilogy, Missing Link) as Dr. Jumba Jookiba
From the original animation, Chris Sanders reprises his iconic role as the voice of Stitch, while Tia Carrere and Jason Scott Lee feature as different characters after previously voicing Nani and David respectively.
Lilo & Stitch will arrive in UK cinemas on 23 May.
