Vin Diesel and the Furious family are split apart in action-packed trailer for Fast & Furious 8

Throughout the last sixteen years of this century, audiences have been overwhelmed by multiple film franchises including Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (prequels), Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games and more.

Yet remarkably, one series that has done well to stay relevant to audiences despite a ridiculous obsession with cars and daft action sequences is the Fast and Furious saga.

Since its first film debuted in 2001, the thrilling hod-rod franchise has made almost $4 billion in the worldwide box-office and is now preparing to unleash its most jaw-dropping outing to date.

Entitled Fast & Furious 8, the upcoming sequel has unveiled a lengthy but spectacular trailer that is bound to bring more big bucks in.

Directed by F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen, Straight Outta Compton), the plot sees leading character Dom and the Furious team going about their separate ways as they all try to lead a normal life. But when a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of crime, he ends up betraying those closest to him. This leads to the team reassembling as they look to stop a new foe from unleashing chaos on the world whilst saving their old friend at the same time.

Fast and Furious regulars Vin Diesel (Dom), Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Hobbs), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Jordana Brewster (Mia), Lucas Black (Sean), Elsa Pataky (Elena) and Ludacris (Tej Parker) all return for the eighth installment along with new fan favourites Jason Statham as the team’s old nemesis Deckard Shaw and Game of Thrones beauty Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey. As we already know, original cast member Paul Walker (Brian O’Conner) is sadly no longer with us.

There are also some strong additions to the cast which include Oscar-winner Charlize Theron (Monster, Mad Max: Fury Road) as the seductive Cipher plus Kurt Russell (The Thing, The Hateful Eight), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride, Suicide Squad), Kristofer Hivju (After Earth, Game of Thrones) and a rumoured role for British veteran Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect, The Queen, Trumbo).

Fast & Furious 8 will race into UK cinemas on April 14th 2017.
