Trailer park gal Emilia Clarke becomes an FBI informant in Above Suspicion trailer

With her role as the Queen of Dragons well behind her, Emilia Clarke is looking to continue her push into being taken seriously as a film actress.

Admittedly, the Game of Thrones star has had mixed fortunes on the big-screen with films like Terminator: Genisys (2015), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and last year’s Last Christmas (2019) failing to make an impression with critics and audiences.

However, the British beauty is now tackling a different type of role in the form of Kentucky gal Susan Smith in her latest project Above Suspicion. The factual-based thriller has been stuck in limbo since production began in 2016 but is FINALLY due to arrive on our screens this year.

Directed by Phillip Noyce (Dead Calm, Patriot Games), the film centres on the true story of how a newly-married FBI agent’s illicit affair with an impoverished local woman (Clarke) who became his star informant. However, their liaison would later lead to scandal and tragedy.

Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, The Irishman) co-stars as FBI agent Mark Putnam with additional support coming from Thora Birch (American Beauty, The Walking Dead), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass series, The Last Stand), Sophie Lowe (The Slap, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) and Kevin Dunn (Transformers series, Veep).

Above Suspicion is likely to be available to stream later this year.
