When it comes to sci-fi, Steven Spielberg is one man who knows how to bring the genre to life on the big-screen.

The legendary filmmaker has delivered various films of that particular category in the past including Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), E.T: The Extra Terrestrial (1982) and A.I: Artificial Intelligence (2001). However he is now introducing us to yet another spectacular futuristic world in the form of the upcoming Ready Player One.

Based on the novel by Ernie Cline, the sci-fi adventure has unveiled its new full-length trailer which features throwbacks from the 80s and 90s including Chucky, the Iron Giant and Back to the Future’s iconic DeLorean car.

Set in the year 2044, the plot focuses on a male orphan named Wade Watts who is one of many individuals who takes part in a virtual reality system called the OASIS. When the system’s creator dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg for which the winner will receive half a trillion dollars as well as full control of the entire system. Wade battles to find three clues and locate the Egg before a major corporation does.

Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life, X-Men: Apocalypse) plays our young hero and is supported in the film by Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Hannah John-Kamen (Killjoys, Tomb Raider), Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, Deadpool), Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Star Trek trilogy), Kae Alexander (Bad Education, Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (The Office, The Witch) and Oscar-winner Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, The BFG).

Ready Player One will be released in the UK on 30th March 2018.
