Ever since he stole the show in the Wallace and Gromit outing A Close Shave (1995), Shaun the Sheep has become a cult figure amongst young audiences to the point of getting his own television series.
Fans of the beloved sheep will be even more pleased to hear that Aardman Animations are teaming up with StudioCanal to make a big-screen outing for the furry animal which will be set for release in 2015.
Aardman executive chairman David Sproxton made a brief statement about the news:
“Shaun and his friends have a massive global following. We are very excited about being able to put them into a bigger adventure for the big screen.”
The plot will see Shaun cause grief for his farmer who then decides to walk out on the farm. Shaun then embarks on an epic adventure as he, Bitzer and the flock go into the big city to rescue their owner.
Writing and directing duties will also be shared between Richard Starzak and Mark Burton (Madagascar) with the film continuing the Aardman trend of using stop-motion animation.
Looks like a lot of families will be flocking to see this!
