With awards season just around the corner, one film that is being touted as a heavy favourite for Oscar success is the upcoming musical drama La La Land.

Written and directed by Damien Chazelle (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, Whiplash), the feature has already received strong critical acclaim after it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August.

Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling (Drive, The Nice Guys) and Emma Stone (The Help, Birdman) headline the drama with both performers tipped to be nodded in the lead actor / actress categories.

Following the release of two teaser previews, an official trailer has finally been unveiled online.

Set in Los Angeles, the plot focuses on Mia (Stone), an aspiring actress who encounters a handsome jazz musician named Sebastian (Gosling). The pair embark on a whirlwind romance but the relationship is threatened by their career ambitions.

Oscar winner JK Simmons (Oz, Whiplash) reunites with director Chazelle while there are appearances from Rosemarie DeWitt (United States of Tara, Poltergeist) and Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story, The Big Short) as well as singer John Legend.

La La Land will be released in the UK on January 13th 2017.
