One of the Bible’s greatest stories will make its bow on the big-screen next year as Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe (Gladiator, Cinderella Man, Les Miserables) takes on the title role in the historical epic ‘Noah‘.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan), the film premiered its official trailer earlier today via YOUTUBE.

Based on the story of ‘Noah’s Ark‘, the film shows Crowe’s Noah as an ordinary man who has a vision of the apocalypse before trying to warn people to stop mistreating the Earth. He then decides to build an ark to protect both his family and Earth’s wildlife from a giant flood.

Crowe’s A Beautiful Mind co-star Jennifer Connelly plays Noah’s wife with additional support coming from Emma Watson (Harry Potter series, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson, Perks) and Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet) as his children and fellow Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs, Thor) as his father.

British actor Ray Winstone (Nil by Mouth, The Departed) also features as the film’s villain (for the umpteenth time in his career!).

The film will be released in cinemas on March 28th 2014.
