With his iconic role as Marvel superhero Tony Stark / Iron Man finally out of the way, Robert Downey Jr. is set to work with all (CGI) creatures, great and small in a new adaptation of Doctor Dolittle.

The Oscar-nominated star is following in the footsteps of Rex Harrison, Eddie Murphy and….Phillip Schofield by playing the animal loving physician in the upcoming family adventure Dolittle.

Bolstering a supreme voice cast, the film has premiered an official trailer which is backed by a new take on Louis Armstrong’s classic tune “What a Wonderful World.”

Directed by Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Gold), the plot sees Dolittle having to sail to a mythical island in order to find a cure to help a gravely ill Queen Victoria. Along the way, he crosses old adversaries whilst discovering wondrous creatures.

Additionally, the rest of the star-studded voice cast includes Selena Gomez (The Muppets, Hotel Transylvania trilogy) as Betsy (a Giraffe), Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter series, Spectre) as Barry (a Tiger), John Cena (Daddy’s Home, Ferdinand) as Yoshi (a Polar Bear), Kumail Nanjiani (Silcion Valley, The Big Sick) as Plimpton (an Ostrich), Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine, This is the End) as Fleming (a Mouse), Carmen Ejogo (Selma, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Regine (a Lioness) and Frances De La Tour (Hugo, Vicious) as Ginko (who soars).
