Robbie Williams retells his life story in the form of a CGI monkey in new trailer for Better Man

A poignant new trailer has arrived for the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man.

The music-based drama focuses on the life of one of the UK’s biggest artists of the past thirty years but with a unique twist.

Unlike other films of its genre (Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Elvis, etc.), the unconventional biopic depicts the star as a monkey. Yes, you read that correctly!

Directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), the story explores the meteoric rise and dramatic fall of Robbie from his childhood, to his success with the hit boy band Take That, and his own career as a record-breaking solo artist — all while confronting the challenges that fame and success can bring.

In a collaborative effort, Jonno Davies (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Hunters) performs the motion capture and provides Williams’ speaking voice, while the star man himself narrates the film and does his own singing.

Additionally, the rest of the film’s cast includes Damon Herriman (Justified, The Bikeriders), Kate Mulvany (The Great Gatsby, Hunters), Anthony Hayes (Animal Kingdom, The Light Between Oceans), Steve Pemberton (Benidorm, Inside No. 9), and Alison Steadman (Abigail’s Party, Gavin & Stacey).

Robbie fans can look forward to hearing a number of his greatest hits in the biopic, including ‘Angels’, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Millennium’, ‘She’s the One’, ‘Rock DJ’ and ‘Feel’.

Better Man is scheduled for a UK release on Boxing Day.
