Peter Parker teams up with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio in new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home

The last couple of weeks have definitely been emotional for Marvel fans, especially after the events of the last year’s Avengers: Infinity War and more recently, Endgame.

Released only a couple of weeks ago, the latter film certainly put us through the mill with its satisfying conclusion as well as giving us the chance to say goodbye to a couple of beloved characters, *cough* Tony Stark *cough*.

Thankfully, we only have to wait a couple of months for the next instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to continue as all eyes turn to Peter Parker and his alter-ego Spider-Man.

The web-slinging superhero is set to return for his next big-screen outing Spider-Man: Far From Home with British actor Tom Holland once again involved as Spidey.

Following the release of a teaser back in January, a new full-length trailer has emerged which indicates more trouble for our young hero on foreign soil.

Directed again by Jon Watts, the story takes place shortly after the events of Avengers: Endgame, as Peter struggles to deal with the loss of his friend Tony Stark (Iron Man). He then decides to go on a summer holiday to Europe with his friends, but a sinister new enemy threatens to wreak havoc, which forces Peter to return to action again as his alter-ego.

Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal (End of Watch, Southpaw, Stronger) is the high-profile newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he tackles the role of Spidey’s new accomplice Mysterio.

Additionally, the sequel also welcomes back a number of familiar faces from Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) including Zendaya (Michelle Jones), Michael Keaton (Adrian Toomes / Vulture), Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan), Jacob Batalon (Ned), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Angourie Rice (Betty), Martin Starr (Mr. Harrington) and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May Parker).

There are also appearances in the film from Marvel regulars Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders, who return as Nick Fury and Maria Hill, respectively.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in the UK on July 5th.
