Monthly preview: Ten films to watch in March

It’s hard to believe that we’re already into the third month of 2020!

The first batch of films from Spring centre on various characters including two elf brothers, a group of feminist activists, a super-human soldier, a fearless Chinese warrior and the return of a mischievous rabbit.

 

ONWARD

RELEASED: Friday 6th March

DIRECTOR: Dan Scanlon

VOICE CAST: Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, John Ratzenberger

SYNOPSIS: Two teenage elf brothers, Ian (Holland) and Barley (Pratt), go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

 

BLOODSHOT

RELEASED: Wednesday 11th March

DIRECTOR: David S. F. Wilson

CAST: Vin Diesel, Eiza González, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, Guy Pearce, Talulah Riley

SYNOPSIS: Ray Garrison (Diesel), an elite soldier who was killed in battle, is brought back to life by an advanced technology that gives him super-human strength and fast healing. With his new abilities, he goes after the man who he believes killed his wife and soon comes to realise that not everything he learns can be trusted.

 

CALM WITH HORSES

RELEASED: Friday 13th March

SYNOPSIS: Douglas ‘Arm’ Armstrong (Keoghan) has become the feared enforcer for the drug-dealing Devers family, whilst also trying to be a good father. Torn between these two families, Arm’s loyalties are tested when he is asked to kill for the first time.

MY SPY

SYNOPSIS: A hardened CIA operative (Bautista) finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl (Coleman), having been sent undercover to spy on her family.

 

A QUIET PLACE: PART II

SYNOPSIS: Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

THE JESUS ROLLS

SYNOPSIS: Hours after his release from prison, Jesus Quintana (Turturro) pairs up with fellow misfits Petey (Cannavale) and Marie (Tautou) for a freewheeling joyride of petty crime and romance.

 

MULAN

SYNOPSIS: To save her ailing father (Ma) from serving in the Imperial Army, a fearless young woman named Mulan (Lu) disguises herself as a man to battle northern invaders in China.

 

PETER RABBIT 2

SYNOPSIS: Bea (Byrne), Thomas (Gleeson) and the rabbits have created a makeshift family but despite his best efforts, Peter (Corden) can’t seem to shake his mischievous reputation. Adventuring out of the garden, Peter finds himself in a world where mischief is appreciated, but soon his family come to bring him home.
