Michael Keaton is McDonalds founder Ray Kroc in official trailer for The Founder

Michael Keaton has enjoyed a career renaissance in recent years having appeared in the last two Oscar winners for Best Picture in Birdman (2014) and Spotlight (2015).

Now the veteran star of Beetlejuice (1988) and Batman (1989) is hoping to finally land an accolade for himself with his new role as McDonalds founder Ray Kroc in the upcoming biopic The Founder.

Helmed by biopic expert John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Saving Mr Banks), the film has released its official trailer which can be seen below:

Set in the 1950s, the story focuses on Kroc as a struggling salesman who met the McDonald brothers and decided to become part of their burger operation. However upon seeing franchise potential for the business, he decided to pull the company away from the brothers and create a multi-billion dollar empire that has become a fast food phenomenon around the world.

Keaton is supported by a stellar cast including Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Wild) as Kroc’s wife as well as Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, Fargo), Linda Cardellini (The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bloodline), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Fargo), B.J Novak (The Office, Saving Mr Banks) and John Carroll Lynch (Shutter Island, American Horror Story).

The Founder is expected to be released in the UK between October and January.
