Mena Massoud’s Aladdin and Will Smith’s Genie join forces in live-action Aladdin trailer

The next few months promises to be epic for Disney with the upcoming release of not one, not two but THREE live-action adaptations of previous animated classics.

With Dumbo due out at the end of this month, the studio are also set to unveil new versions of Aladdin and The Lion King with both being released within a couple of months of each other during the summer.

For Aladdin supporters, they will be keen to see how the 1992 classic performs in live-action with British director Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Sherlock Holmes) handling the project.

Disney have now revealed a new full-length trailer for the film which promises to be a magic ride filled with adventure and witty humour.

Set in the Arabian city of Agrabah, the story focuses on a street boy named Aladdin who manages to free a magic genie from a lamp and is granted three wishes. But after passing himself off as a prince, he attempts to woo a princess only to be confronted by a sinister advisor who has plans for the princess and the lamp.

Mena Massoud (Open Heart, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) tackles the heroic role of Aladdin with additional support coming from British actress Naomi Scott (The 33, Power Rangers) as the beautiful Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari (Ben-Hur, Murder on the Orient Express) as the cunning Jafar and Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black trilogy) providing the voice of the flamboyant Genie.

A whole new world for Aladdin will begin in a couple of months time when the film is released in cinemas on May 24th.
