It’s safe to say that life is good for Matthew McConaughey right now.

The Southern-drawled actor has already enjoyed great success this year on both the big and small screen with his Oscar-winning role as real-life AIDS sufferer Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club and his brilliant turn as tortured cop Rust Cohle in the acclaimed crime series True Detective.

But the once-ridiculed star is now tackling another crucial lead role in the intriguing sci-fi blockbuster Interstellar, a film which is being helmed by the renowned Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy).

Due out in November, the film has premiered an official trailer online.

The plot sees McConaughey play Cooper, a family man who is recruited for an important space voyage. Accompanied by a team of astronauts, the group end up exploring a newly discovered wormhole in hopes of reaching a new solar system that is different to our own.

The film features a remarkable cast of talented stars which include two of Hollywood’s leading ladies in Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises, Les Miserables) and the effortless Jessica Chastain (The Help, Zero Dark Thirty). The roles of both actresses are not yet known.
