Matt Damon confirms return to Bourne film series

The last time we saw Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne, he had managed to escape death and swim away to safety in the climax of The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).

Since then, Bourne fans have been waiting impatiently for the popular action hero to return especially after the disappointment of the 2012 spin-off The Bourne Legacy.

But after years of speculation, Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Departed) has finally confirmed that he and collaborating director Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips) are set to return to the franchise.

Speaking to E! News about the comeback, Damon said:

“We’ll shoot it next year. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out.

Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”

There have been suggestions that Bourne will team up with Legacy character Aaron Cross (played by Jeremy Renner) in the new film though details of the story are being kept under wraps.
