Marvel confirm Ant-Man sequel with release set for 2018

Following another successful cinematic year for the studio, Marvel have announced that its latest big-screen creation Ant-Man is set for a deserved sequel.

The comic-book film, which starred Paul Rudd as a burglar-turned-mini superhero, was a surprise box-office smash grossing over $400 million at the worldwide box-office.

The sequel is set to be entitled Ant-Man and the Wasp and will be part of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rudd is already confirmed to return as Scott Lang / Ant-Man with co-star Evangeline Lily back as Hope Van Dyne. Her alter-ego The Wasp was glimpsed at briefly in the first film’s credits scene which suggests that she will have a much bigger role in the follow-up.

However there is no news about whether original actors like Michael Douglas (Dr Hank Pym), Bobby Cannavale (Paxton) or Michael Pena (Luis) are coming back.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released on July 8th 2018. The confirmed date means that other new Marvel films like Black Panther and Captain Marvel have had their releases changed.
