Killing Eve fans, look away now!

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that the hit BBC drama will conclude next year with its upcoming fourth series.

Production on the final run of episodes will begin in this summer in the UK and across Europe, with the series launching on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022.

Based on the novels by Luke Jennings and originally written and produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the cat-and-mouse thriller has followed MI5 security operative Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and her relentless pursuit of eccentric yet dangerous assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer).

Between them, both actresses have achieved remarkable success through with the pair sharing the big quartet of television awards; Sandra (Golden Globe and SAG) and Jodie (BAFTA and Emmy).

On the series’ conclusion, the pair offered their thoughts starting with Sandra:

“Killing Eve has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon.

I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”

Jodie:

“Killing Eve’ has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for.

Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!”

Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle further added:

“We have been unbelievably blessed to work with extraordinary human beings throughout the life of Killing Eve.

From the magical Phoebe via the delectable Emerald (Fennell), super talented Suzanne (Heathcote) and now mind-blowing Laura (Neal); headed by the super-powers of Sandra, Jodie, Fiona (Shaw) and Kim (Bodnia), and with brilliantly talented directors and crew.

No-one knew what an adventure we were embarking on and there’s so much more to come. Buckle up.”

A small consolation for Killing Eve fans is that AMC Networks and Sid Gentle Films Ltd are working to develop potential spinoffs to extend the world created in the series. However, it is understood that none of them will involve the memorable pairing of ‘Villaneve’.
