Kate Winslet embarks on a tense relationship with Saoirse Ronan in Ammonite trailer

As two of the most prolific actresses on the British Isles, Kate Winslet (Titanic, The Reader, Steve Jobs) and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Lady Bird, Little Women) are finally getting the chance to collaborate together on a new project.

The multi award-winning pair are going down the romantic route with their upcoming drama Ammonite which is helmed by rising filmmaker Francis Lee (God’s Own Country).

The film’s official trailer has officially premiered and already promises to be an emotional watch for audiences.

Set in the 1840s, the film centres on the true story of fossil hunter Mary Anning (Winslet) as she developed an intense relationship with a married woman (Ronan) that would change both of their lives forever.

Winslet and Ronan are joined in the romantic drama by BAFTA-winning actresses Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter series, Killing Eve) and Gemma Jones (Marvellous, Gentleman Jack) plus James McCardle (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Mary Queen of Scots) and Claire Rushbrook (Secrets & Lies, My Mad Fat Diary).

Additionally, director Lee also reunites with actor Alec Secăreanu (Baptiste) after the pair worked on God’s Own Country.

Touted as an awards contender for 2021, Ammonite is scheduled for release in the UK in early 2021.
