Jessica Chastain officially joins IT: Chapter Two, James McAvoy also set to star

Last year saw Pennywise the Clown make a terrifying comeback to the big-screen as he pursued a group of youngsters in the hit horror remake IT.

Its sequel Chapter Two is already in the works and is set to focus on the Losers’ Club as adults following their traumatising ordeal at the hands of the demonic clown. It will also show glimpses of the characters as their younger selves from the original outing.

Unsurprisingly, the film has attracted the attention of various big names and one in particular has finally signed up to star. Having previously worked on horror in Mama (2013) and Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak (2015), the talented Jessica Chastain has officially been confirmed for the upcoming sequel.

The versatile Oscar-nominated star of The Help (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), The Martian (2015) and Molly’s Game (2017) is set to play the older version of Beverly Marsh who was the only female in the group.

Additionally, it now looks as though Jessica will be reuniting with two of her male co-stars from the 2014 romantic drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby on the project.

Scottish actor James McAvoy (X-Men series) is being tipped to play an adult Bill Denbrough having previously worked on horror in Victor Frankenstein (2015) and Split (2016). The role of an older Richie Tozier is set to be taken on by Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) who is better known for his comedy work.

Unsurprisingly, Bill Skarsgard is set to reprise his memorable role as Pennywise with original starlets Sophia Lillis (young Beverly), Finn Wolfhard (young Bill) and Jaeden Lieberher (young Richie) all set to return.

Andy Muschietti, who worked with Jessica on Mama, is back to direct IT: Chapter Two which will be released in cinemas around September next year.
