Jamie Foxx’s music teacher finds himself stuck in a world of souls in new trailer for Pixar’s ‘Soul’

As we approach the end of a difficult year for cinema, Pixar are hoping to provide some cheer for disappointed filmgoers during the upcoming Christmas period.

The Disney-based studio have already been kept busy in 2020 with the earlier release of Onward which proved to a mixed bag for critics and audiences. However, there is plenty of buzz surrounding their next effort in the form of ‘Soul‘.

With strong reviews already under its belt, the animation has unveiled an impressive trailer that can be watched below:

Helmed by Pixar director Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) and newcomer Kemp Powers, the plot centres on a middle-aged music teacher who has lost his passion. However, his life takes a bizarre turn when he is transported out of his body and must find his way back with the help of an infant soul learning about herself.

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) provides the voice of leading character Joe with Tina Fey (Due Date, 30 Rock) co-starring as his soul companion 22.

The rest of the vocal cast includes Daveed Diggs (Wonder, Hamilton), Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do With It?, Black Panther), Alice Braga (Predators, Elysium), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd, Paddington 2), Phylicia Rashad (Creed, Empire), June Squibb (Nebraska, The Big Bang Theory) and Pixar regular John Ratzenberger (Toy Story series, WALL-E).

Soul will be released on Disney+ on Christmas Day.
