Jai Courtney cast as Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis

Having starred in the latest sequel to one of Hollywood’s most successive action franchises, Jai Courtney is set to embark on yet another film from an arse-kicking series, after landing a key role in the new Terminator film, Genesis.

Courtney, who has previously appeared in Jack Reacher and Live Free and Die Hard (as John McClane’s son), has been cast as human resistance fighter Kyle Reese in the upcoming reboot which is a new-look outing for the Terminator and the ‘machines’.

He had competed for the role with Boyd Holbrook (The Host, Behind the Candelebra) but managed to secure his casting after impressing the producers.

The character is the father of future fighter John Connor and has previously been played by Michael Biehn in the classic James Cameron films and by Anton Yelchin in the more recent outing, Terminator: Salvation.

British beauty Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Spike Island) and Jason Clarke (Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty) have already been cast in the respective roles of Sarah Connor and John Connor with original Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger set to return as his iconic character.

Helmed by Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, Terminator: Genesis will be released in UK cinemas in on June 26th 2015.
