Humans and Orcs battle it out in official trailer for Warcraft: The Beginning

Computer games have had a tough time being successful when adapted into big-screen flicks.

Many have been tried and tested but ultimately failed including Super Mario, Mortal Kombat, Doom, Hitman, Max Payne, Prince of Persia and more recently, Need for Speed.

But the latest game to face the crucial cinematic conversion is the epic fantasy series Warcraft.

Created by Blizzard Entertainment back in the mid 90s, the multi-player game has become a universal hit on PCs but is finally making its big-screen debut in the form of Warcraft: The Beginning.

The film’s first trailer has since premiered online.

Helmed by British director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), the story will be set in the mystical world of Azeroth and will see humans battle Orcs for supreme domination.

Travis Fimmel (The Baytown Outlaws, Vikings) leads a low-key cast which also includes Ben Foster (Hostage, The Program), Paula Patton (Precious, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), Toby Kebbell (Dead Man’s Shoes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Dominic Cooper (Need for Speed, Agent Carter), Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, Spongebob Squarepants) and Robert Kasinsky (EastEnders, Pacific Rim).

Warcraft: The Beginning will hit cinemas on June 3rd 2016.
