Glen Powell fights to survive a deadly television show in The Running Man trailer

An exhilarating trailer has landed for The Running Man.

The upcoming dystopian thriller, which was previously brought to the big-screen in 1987, comes from the creative mind of lauded British filmmaker Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Baby Driver).

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, the plot centres on a man who is forced to participate in a deadly reality television show where he must evade vicious killers to win money.

The prolific Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man) headlines the film as protagonist Ben Richards and is joined by a starry support cast that includes William H. Macy (Fargo, Shameless), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy, Foundation), Emilia Jones (CODA, Cat Person), Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Juno), Daniel Ezra (A Discovery of Witches, All American), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace, Am I OK?), Jayme Lawson (The Batman, Sinners), Katy O’Brian (The Mandalorian, Love Lies Bleeding), Colman Domingo (Rustin, Sing Sing), and Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Dune).

The new take on King’s novel comes almost forty years after the success of the original 1987 outing, which featured one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s more memorable leading roles and grossed almost $40 million worldwide.

The Running Man will race its race into UK cinemas on 7 November.
