GI: Joe: Retaliation moved back to 2013

It’s been a very busy year for blockbusters so far but it seems the competition between them has led to one film being moved back a few months to earn more big bucks.

The action-sequel GI: Joe: Retaliation is being pushed back 9 months from a summer release to now being shown in March 2013.  The reason for the delay has been Paramount’s decision to edit the film and make it 3D in order to bring more audiences to it.

The change was revealed by an unnamed executive producer from Paramount.

“We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally. Jim Cameron did all of Titanic’s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.”

The move is rather strange especially since the first film Rise of Cobra failed to make an impression with the critics back in 2009. But 3D does seem to be the way forward with blockbusters nowadays even though most of them are disappointing to look at on the big screen.

However this particular sequel does look a lot better with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Bruce Willis adding extra steel to the cast while Channing Tatum returns after appearing in from the original.

In the meantime, the long wait for this film continues….
