Gary Oldman to star in Robocop remake

One of Britain’s hardest working actors has been raking it in over the last few years by appearing in successful franchises like Harry Potter and Batman.

It has now been revealed that Oscar-nominated actor Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is set to pop up in another franchise after being confirmed to star in MGM’s remake of the sci-fi thriller Robocop.

His role will see him play the scientist who helps to create the robotic lawman Robocop (to be played by Joel Kinnerman from The Killing).

The film will be directed by Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) with filming t0 begin in September with an August 13th 2013 release scheduled.

While this is yet another silly excuse for Hollywood to churn out an unnecessary remake for a film that is 25 years old this summer, Oldman’s involvement is a sharp casting. The man is on fire right now!
