Doctor Who’s Matt Smith signs up for new Terminator trilogy

Having recently concluded his role as the Doctor in the hit sci-fi series Doctor Who, Matt Smith is now set to embark on another hit franchise which revolves around the future….

The British actor has officially joined the cast of the new Terminator film and is said to be the final major piece of casting for the project.

Incorporated as a new character in the story, Smith’s screen-time is said to be limited for Terminator: Genesis but that it will expand in the second and third films of the rebooted trilogy.

Helmed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World), the plot is said to be linked with James Cameron’s classic 1984 film but that it won’t refer to the later sequels like Judgement Day (1991) and Rise of the Machines (2003).

Original star Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as the cyborg T-800 with the new-look cast consisting of Game of Thrones beauty Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as John Connor and Jai Courtney (Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Live Free or Die Hard) as Kyle Reese.

The fifth film of the Terminator franchise has already started production with a cinematic release set for next summer.
